Module 01: Entrepreneur Research & Website Development1Part 1 - Photography Magic/Illusions
We will start out by having a little fun setting up shots. Photography is fun. Learning the skills needed to take great photos is important. One of the first things we need to understand is that taking great photos often takes time. Point and shoot photos are sometimes great by chance, being in the right place at the right time. But, when we check out the masters, you will see how they sometimes take hours to get that perfect shot. They take lots of the same shot to get the best image. Assignment:
Part 2
In order to display original photographs and assignments for marking, each student will create a private weebly.com website in the instructor's account. These sites are only available to be viewed by the instructor and student (of course, to be shared with parents). Photos/assignments must be uploaded to the website for each unit by the specified due date. Students must place all assignments, as directed, on their own website for marking. It is important that students hit Publish once the assignment is added or the instructor will not be able to see the assignment. In addition to the assignments, the following must be completed. These items count toward the website setup mark.
Part 3 Research Project (2 Options) A. Interview an Entrepreneur Photography 30 students can choose to research an entrepreneurial job in photography by interviewing someone who makes money at their own business (or a side business). Students will:

Module 02 - Basic Photographic Skills
Students studied the Elements of a Good Photograph in Photography 10. This was done using an instructor created Power Point. A copy is below. A printable copy of the various Elements is attached below for reference. Photography 30 students are expected to show their understanding of the Elements in the photographs taken throughout the course. Students are also expected to know the Variety of Shots material that was studied in Photography 10 and 20. A copy of the checklist is located below as well. Review these and apply them to your work.
Assignment: Make a small collection of photos
Take note: Photography 30 students are not required to do this assignment due to time limitations caused by Level 3 learning during Covid.
Place your finished photos on the Basics page of your website. Make comments about why you chose the photo and what it represents to you. Altogether, with the two assignment sections about, you should post about 12 photos.
Due Date: Friday, Sept 25, 2020 at the end of class. Due to Covid-19 restrictions, I cannot send you out to gain work experience, but we can do a shoot with family. Your job, for this module, will be to do family photos for your client (your parent(s)/caregivers). You can use school equipment to set up a formal shoot. Please talk to me if there are things you need to borrow.
Expectations: You will take numerous photos, but you will post the 5 best shots on the Work Experience web page (by the due date). Just the raw photos are placed there and not editing is done on that page. You will then place those raw photos on the Final Project page where you will also display the edited version. They become part of your total package of 35 photos. Expectations:
Module 06: Photoshop AdjustmentsLearning to use Photoshop is vital to the editing process. Photoshop Pro allows you to make minute or broad adjustments that can greatly improve your photos. It is important to note, however, that photography is an art, and often a well setup photo will be most effective.
When editing a photo, Photography 30 students need to know how to crop, resize, and adjust colour, brightness, and contrast. They must also apply various types of filters, use masking, various brushes, vignetting, and temperature adjustments (to name a few). A more advanced use of layers and compositing techniques is expected than for Photo 20. Assignment 1: You will first review layer masking. Then you will review the new videos for photo compositing. Assignment 2, below, has projects only from the photo compositing course simply because layer masking is part of Photo 20). In your final project, I will expect to see that you have used the layer masking and compositing techniques taught in these videos. Review the videos from the External Resource below:
Assignment 2:
Due Date: Incorportate work with compositing in your final project.

You must post these side-by-side (raw beside edited with descriptive text below) in a section labelled as Assignment #1 on the Manipulations page of your website. This is eight photos in total with raw and edited.

One lists the projects that all Photography students have chosen, and the second is ideas for a starting point in planning. Students will take a minimum of 80 photos from which they will choose the best 40. Students must keep the concepts and skills learned to this point in mind as they prepare the final project. Reminder: a well-documented journal is a vital part of the project.
Module 09: Final ProjectPhotography 30 students are free to propose a study that is of interest to them personally. A well-established Project Plan must be presented to the instructor for approval.
To help you adjust the photos in your final compilation, here are some valuable video lessons (provided as a review of what is done in class (click to link):
